Checking In

Here I am. Back. Only briefly, though. We are currently in Florida visiting for my mom's 60th birthday. We had a nice party for her last night and about 40 people showed up. She is an amazing woman. One thing I will always admire her for, is her thoughtfulness. She remembers everyone and every occasion. She is always ready and waiting with a card or gift. That is one quality of hers that I don't possess and wish I did.
We also had plans while we were down here to enjoy one last weekend fling at the beach. But instead, we are stuck inside. Riding out Tropical Storm Lee. I'll admit, my meteorology nerd genes are coming out. I've tried my best to refrain from gluing myself to the Weather Channel. If you know anything about me, you know how much I love weather. And being from Florida, hurricanes and tropical storms are right up my alley. I'm not sure what we'll do the rest of the weekend, but it is nice being with my family.



The kids have started back up to school. Savannah is in 4th grade this year. Growing up too fast (I always say that). She is an amazing young girl with a good heart. Caden started Kindergarten. It was much harder than I anticipated seeing him go to "real school". He is my baby and now he is officially grown up. It's like a chapter of our life is over and a new one begins. Sad and happy at the same time. Does that make sense?
